Pet photos?

“But my dog can't be off leash in a park.”

Here’s a secret…most of the dogs I photograph are wearing a leash!

The two reasons:

  • Keeping your pup safe–my top priority during your session
  • To follow leash laws

Even when an owner is sure of 110% recall, I’ve learned that being on leash is the best plan. (Senior pets are the only ones who are not usually on leash as their mobility is typically already limited.)

The reason you don’t see many leashes in the final images presented to my clients is because I am able to remove them during post-processing through the magic of Photoshop. (Check out Riley above.)

For each photo session, I request a flat collar and basic 6-ft leash, not a retractable one. If your hand is holding something bulky, I can’t readjust your hand in Photoshop.

I will guide you on how to hold your dog’s leash to make removing it later a breeze. There are some instances, however, when a leash cannot be removed during post-processing because the image simply won’t look right or because it is not technically possible. If this is the case with any of your photos, I will let you know during your big reveal and ordering appointment so that you can make the best decision regarding your products and prints.
